Proyecto: | Physics of seismic wave propagation in porous media: Challenges in quantitative modelling. |
Responsable: | Pratap Narayan Sahay Sahay |
Tipo de proyecto: | Proyecto Conacyt |
Resumen: | The proyect has two central themes. First, to advance the theory of seismic wave propagation in anisotropic and inhomogeneous poroelastic media. This requires to close knowledge gaps with respect to the effect of wave attenuation produced by the viscousstress tensor, the origin of pore fabric-induced anisotropy, the meaning of proposy gradients and partial saturation. Secon, to build a state -of-the-art forward solver for seismic waves in such anisotropic and inhomogeneous poroelastic media. We will design this solver using an optimized spectral element method with hogher order explicit time integration, which requires new iterative strategies to accelerate the solution. This numerical solver enables the exploration and quantification of wave propagationphenomena in complex geometrical configurations that are out of reach by analytical methods. The results of this proyect willconstitute a solid foundation for poroelastic wavefield inversion. |
